Amirah

In Massachusetts, women exiting the commercial sex trade, many of whom have endured the trauma of sex trafficking, face significant barriers to rebuilding their lives, including limited access to stable employment and economic independence. Amirah, founded in 2011, has evolved from an outreach organization to a comprehensive service provider, offering rapid re-housing, case management, peer care navigation, and economic mobility planning to empower these women. The emotional and financial toll of their past experiences often leaves them feeling trapped and without hope for a sustainable future. A $10,000 grant from Ten Thousand Reasons, applied for by 8th grader Annie Mitchell, enabled Amirah to enhance its vocational training program within the Rapid Re-Housing initiative, equipping women with the skills needed to achieve stability and self-sufficiency. This grant empowered Amirah to provide:

Vocational training programs, offering skills development for employment opportunities, fostering economic independence.

Resources and mentorship to support job readiness, helping women build confidence and career pathways.

Comprehensive support within the Rapid Re-Housing program, ensuring a holistic approach to recovery and long-term stability.

Thank you, Annie Mitchell, for your passionate advocacy and commitment to advancing Amirah’s mission to provide hope, healing, and opportunity to women exiting the commercial sex trade!
