AYA
In Atlanta’s low-income urban communities, youth often lack access to safe, structured after-school activities, leaving them vulnerable to negative influences and without opportunities to build confidence and community. AYA (Advancing Youth Academy), a faith-based organization, advances the kingdom of God by offering a Christ-centered education and enrichment programs to these communities. The after-school basketball program provides a vital space for physical activity, teamwork, and mentorship, but outdated or missing equipment like scoreboards can diminish the experience and engagement. A $13,815 grant from Ten Thousand Reasons, applied for by Whitefield Academy students Asher Ryan (5th grade) and Caleb Ryan (8th grade), enabled AYA to enhance its basketball program by installing real scoreboards, fostering a sense of pride and professionalism for the youth. This grant empowered AYA to provide:
New scoreboards for the after-school basketball program, enhancing the quality and excitement of games and practices.
An enriched, Christ-centered environment that promotes teamwork, discipline, and spiritual growth through sports.
Expanded opportunities for youth to engage in positive activities, building confidence and community connections in low-income areas.
Thank you, Asher and Caleb Ryan, for your passionate advocacy and commitment to advancing AYA’s mission to uplift Atlanta’s youth through Christ-centered education and enrichment!
