CCYA - 2017

In Cobb County, homeless youth and young adults at the Center for Children and Young Adults (CCYA), represented by Lexi Kantor, face profound challenges—abuse, abandonment, neglect, or being at risk—leaving them without stable homes or resources. These young people, striving to overcome their circumstances, often lack the tools to succeed academically, arriving at school hours early to borrow staff laptops or waiting for limited computer lab access. The emotional weight of working tirelessly toward high school graduation, only to face barriers like unaffordable graduation costs or unpreparedness for college entrance exams, can feel crushing. An $8,614 grant from Ten Thousand Reasons empowered CCYA to provide critical educational resources, helping these resilient youth break free from hardship, achieve academic success, and pursue brighter futures. The grant enabled CCYA to deliver:

New Chromebooks for students to use at the shelter, ensuring access to essential tools for completing assignments and fostering academic progress.

College prep courses for SAT/ACT exams, equipping high school seniors with the skills and confidence to pursue higher education.

Funding for graduation expenses, allowing seniors to celebrate their hard-earned high school diplomas with dignity and pride.

Thank you, Lexi Kantor, for your passionate leadership and dedication to transforming the lives of these young people through CCYA’s mission.
