City Takers
City Takers’ Youth Music Development Program
Location: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Impact:
In downtown Atlanta’s toughest neighborhoods, teens often navigate environments rife with negative influences, where the lack of positive outlets can steer them away from their potential and hope. City Takers, a faith-based organization, is dedicated to raising urban missionaries who transform communities through hip-hop, love, and the truth of Jesus. For many young people, exposure to harmful cultural messages in music can dim their aspirations. A $10,000 grant from Ten Thousand Reasons, applied for by Caleb, Asher, and Alden Ryan, empowered City Takers to launch a new youth development program focused on music creation, recording, and business. This initiative provides a safe, positive space for teens to develop skills, share gospel-centered hip-hop with their peers, and transform Atlanta’s hip-hop culture with messages of faith and hope. The grant enabled City Takers to provide:
A new youth development branch offering training in music creation, recording, and music business, engaging at-risk teens in a constructive environment.
A safe space for mentorship, fostering creativity and guiding youth toward positive life choices through gospel-centered values.
Opportunities for teens to produce and share uplifting hip-hop, influencing their schools and neighborhoods while redeeming the genre for good.
Thank you, Caleb, Asher, and Alden Ryan, for your dedicated advocacy and commitment to advancing City Takers’ mission to transform Atlanta’s youth through hip-hop, love, and the truth of Jesus!
