Kids Alive International Oasis and La Arquilla (Guatemala)
Location: Guatemala
In Guatemala, orphaned and abandoned children often face barriers to essential services like medical care and education, while the facilities supporting them struggle with high operational costs, limiting resources for daily needs. Kids Alive International, a faith-based organization, is dedicated to providing physical and spiritual care to these vulnerable children, fostering hope and stability. The emotional and physical toll of unreliable transportation and financial strain can hinder their access to critical opportunities and a nurturing environment. A $25,000 grant from Ten Thousand Reasons, applied for by Josie Bacon and Addie Ellis, enabled Kids Alive Oasis and La Arquilla to purchase a car for social workers and install solar panels, enhancing access to services and redirecting savings to support children’s daily needs. This grant empowered Kids Alive International to provide:
A new car for social workers to transport children to critical appointments, ensuring access to healthcare and educational opportunities.
Solar panels for the main building, reducing electricity costs and reallocating funds to meet children’s daily needs like food and supplies.
A sustainable foundation for physical and spiritual care, fostering a nurturing environment for orphaned and abandoned children to thrive.
Thank you, Josie Bacon and Addie Ellis, for your passionate advocacy and commitment to advancing Kids Alive International’s mission to transform the lives of Guatemala’s most vulnerable children!
