Peace Prep Academy - 2021
In Atlanta’s underserved neighborhoods, children often face barriers to quality education and stable resources, leaving families struggling to provide opportunities for academic and personal growth. Peace Prep Academy, the first school in its area in 20 years, has educated hundreds of students, provided meals, and launched community development initiatives addressing housing and economic challenges. During COVID, their food pantry sustained families with essential groceries. The emotional toll of limited access to modern learning tools can hinder students’ confidence and future prospects. A $10,000 grant from Ten Thousand Reasons, applied for by Whitefield Academy 6th graders Presley Duncanson and Amaya Moore, enabled Peace Prep Academy to expand its curriculum by adding a sixth grade, equipping new students with updated technology and resources. This grant empowered Peace Prep Academy to provide:
Updated technology spaces to support an enriched learning environment for the new sixth grade class.
Computers for sixth grade students, ensuring access to digital tools for academic success.
A foundation for continued educational growth, fostering hope and opportunity for children in Atlanta’s underserved communities.
Thank you, Presley Duncanson and Amaya Moore, for your passionate advocacy and commitment to helping kids your age thrive through Peace Prep Academy’s mission of education and community support!
