SFUMC - Tillman House

In Smyrna, Georgia, families facing poverty struggle with housing instability and limited access to enriching activities for children, often feeling trapped in a cycle of hardship and despair. The Tillman House, a resource center dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty through meaningful relationships, provides critical support through rental and utility assistance and an after-school program fostering academic and personal growth. The emotional and financial burdens of these challenges can weigh heavily on families and youth. A $6,000 grant from Ten Thousand Reasons, applied for by Matthew Sabella (11th grade), Nathan Sabella (5th grade), and Kaitlyn Rhudy (10th grade), enabled Tillman House to expand its rental and utility assistance program and enhance its after-school program, offering hope and stability to the community. This grant empowered Tillman House to provide:

Expanded rental and utility assistance, helping families maintain stable housing and meet essential needs.

Enhanced after-school programming, providing a safe space for youth to develop academically and socially.

Strengthened community support, fostering relationships that break the cycle of poverty and uplift families.

Thank you, Matthew Sabella, Nathan Sabella, and Kaitlyn Rhudy, for your passionate advocacy and commitment to advancing Tillman House’s mission to transform lives in Smyrna through compassionate service and support!
